CALVIÀ TOWN HALL SIGNS COLLABORATION AGREEMENTS WITH THREE SOCIAL ENTITIES TO PROVIDE SUPPORT AND ATTENTION TO WOMEN IN PROSTITUTION AND LIVING IN CONDITIONS OF EXCLUSION

The agreements have been signed with the entities Casal Petit - German Oblates, Médicos del Mundo, and Cruz Roja.

Today, Calvià Town Hall has signed collaboration agreements with three social entities that work in direct attention to women in situations of prostitution, Casal Petit - Germanes Oblatas, Médicos del Mundo, and Cruz Roja.

The purpose of the agreements, which have been signed regularly since 2017, is the collaboration of Calvià Town Hall with the three entities by granting nine thousand euros to each one to support and cover the expenses of the programmes they carry out in terms of intervention and care for women in situations of prostitution and human trafficking for sexual exploitation and guarantee prevention, protection and care against all forms of violence against women. Special attention is paid to the training and prevention of women victims.

The agreements have been signed by the mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, with the director of Casal petit - Germanes Oblatas, María Felicidad Martínez Morán, the president of the Autonomous Committee of the Spanish Cruz Roja in the Balearic Islands, Antonio Barceló Veny, and the president of Médicos del Mundo Illes Balears, Javier Mesquida Riera. An act attended by the deputy mayor for Social Cohesion and Equality, Nati Francés.

Casal Petit - Germanes Oblatas is a day care centre for women that belongs to the Oblatas Sisters Congregation. It offers attention to women who are in a situation of prostitution and/or social exclusion, so it works to improve their life quality.

Cruz Roja is a humanitarian institution of a voluntary nature and of public interest. It offers guidance, care and advice to women in a situation of prostitution, working with aspects related to the detection of health and social risks.

Médicos del Mundo carries out projects to detect situations of risk and exploitation and promote health in women in situations of prostitution or victims of trafficking for sexual exploitation. It is specialised in health care and basic hygiene, with specialised resources that allow accessibility to the health services network.
