CALVIÀ IS PRESENTED AT THE LONDON TOURIST FAIR AS AN EXPONENT OF A SPORTS TOURIST DESTINATION AND WITH GOOD EXPECTATIONS FOR 2023

Calvià is present at the London Tourist Fair 'World Travel Market 2022', which has opened its doors today, to test, looking to the future, what is one of the main source markets of the municipality, after a season of return to normality.

The mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, and the general director of Tourism and Coastline, Xavier Pascuet, attend the fair where they are holding various meetings with specialised media, tour operators and tourist reservation platforms. The perspectives that are handled, the mayor of Calvià has pointed out, are of moderate satisfaction both for the activitiy start dates and for the expectations for the high season.

This morning there was a meeting with the specialised magazine Triathlon Magazine, to which they explained not only the international sporting events that take place in Calvià, such as the Challenge Peguera-Mallorca, the Galatzó Trail or the Half Marathon Magaluf, but also the possibilities as a destination for conducting training camps.

Precisely, Calvià presents tomorrow, Tuesday, in the networking action 'Mallorca is Sport', organised by the Consell de Mallorca, for the British professional sector, all its sports offer, the organisation of international events and competitions, the wide network of sports facilities the municipality has, and the possibility, throughout the year, of stays and trainings that are being a powerful tool of international projection for the municipality.

In the afternoon they held a meeting with the director of strategic projects at Amadeus, the global systems distributor, Ramón Sánchez.

Recently, Red.es has awarded the Smart Calvià project, for more than 3 million euros, for its start-up next year. The project envisages, amongst others, sensorisation, with the installation of buoys and smart pedestrian crossings; the accessibility and modernisation of the OMITs (Municipal Tourist Information Offices) with the installation of interactive screens, amongst other actions; and the implementation of a tourist intelligence system that will allow the management of both, own and foreign data to analyse the "feeling" of the public that can be analysed for the decision-making. With this meeting, Calvià has been able to learn about the services offered by Amadeus in this area.

The last meeting of the day will be held with the travel platform Expedia, to discuss aspects of co-marketing and see what are the trends of travellers, in this case, British.

Tomorrow, Tuesday, they will hold meetings with the specialised magazine Planet Golf Reviews, with the Menorcan company Mabrian, leader in tourist intelligence systems, to learn about the possibilities they offer, also within the framework of the Smart Calvià project launching, and with the tour operator Jet 2, with whom they will analyse the 2022 season and the prospects for 2023 in line with the firm fight against drunkenness tourism, which this year has resulted in the opening of 30 disciplinary proceedings in the Magaluf area and which has had the involvement of all the administrations and the close collaboration between the Calvià Local Police and the Civil Guard.
