'METEOLAB' WORKSHOP ON METEOROLOGY AND CLIMATE
• Elementary students from CEIP Ses Rotes Velles will participate in the activity, which will take place on 25th November
• The workshop, given by researchers from the Institute of Geosciences (CSIC-UCM) and the Complutense University of Madrid, will explain concepts related to the physics of the atmosphere and climate through experiments
• The municipality hosts this activity within the framework of the Ciudad Ciencia dissemination project, promoted by the CSIC, in collaboration with more than 50 Spanish town halls.
What is the greenhouse effect? or how do air masses move? These are some of the questions that will be answered by the workshop on meteorology and climate 'Meteolab', which arrives in Calvià on 25th November, within the framework of the Ciudad Ciencia science dissemination project, promoted by the Higher Council for Scientific Research (CSIC), with sessions aimed at students in 3rd and 4th year of Primary education of the CEIP Ses Rotes Velles school.
This workshop, prepared and given by research staff from the Institute of Geosciences (CSIC-UCM) and the Physics Faculty of the Complutense University of Madrid, invites participants to discover geosciences in a playful and participatory way. It is a set of workshops which through simple experiments will explain fundamental concepts on the physics of the atmosphere and climate. Amongst the proposals, the participants will discover aspects related to climate change, wind, pressure and temperature, precipitation and clouds or the ocean.
Ciudad Ciencia was launched in March 2012 and has the collaboration of more than 50 municipalities so that the inhabitants of Spanish towns can learn first-hand about current science and technology.
Throughout the 2022-2023 academic year Ciudad Ciencia will continue to grow with the addition of new locations.
