Sa Rua is the most important event of the carnival season that is celebrated in Calvià.

It takes place on the Saturday before Ash Wednesday and consists of a parade where people of all ages gather in costume, either individually or in pairs, in groups or with floats.

This year, Sa Rua de Calvià returns to absolute normality and will once again have the traditional route. On Saturday 18th February, the participating individuals and groups will gather in Quarterades street from where they will leave at 4:30 p.m. to parade through the most central streets of Calvià village: Major street, Palma avenue, Julià Bujosa Sans batle street, until arriving at the Town Hall's car park, the place where the prizes are awarded and the end of the party is held.

There are three categories of prizes: individual or couple, group and float, and up to 5.060 euros will be distributed in 16 prizes.

This year, Sa Rua poster contest has been won by Bárbara Rubio Romero with the title "Tropicalísima".

Sa Rua de Calvià has a long tradition and there is a lot of participation from the neighbourhood associations of the municipality, AMIPAS and some sports clubs.
