TOWN HALL AND GOVERNMENT ENABLE AIDS TO IMPROVE TAXI SERVICE THIS SEASON
The Regional Minister for Economic Model, Tourism and Labour, Iago Negueruela, has explained, together with the Mayor of Calvià, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, the line of aids that the Department is launching to improve the taxi service of all the Islands' municipalities during this Summer season, so that taxi drivers from all municipalities that obtain a temporary license can access a vehicle lease to be able to provide the service. As he has explained, aid will be granted in the amount of 2,000 euros per month, for a maximum of 4 months, for a taxi license.
The mayor recalled that in Calvià, last Friday, the creation of 25 temporary licenses for the municipality was approved in an extraordinary Plenary Session, to provide service from June to 30th September 2023, and he also explained that the Town Hall an allocation of 30,000 euros (1,200 euros per vehicle) will be set up to finance the adaptation cost for the installation of a temporary taximetre, free/busy lights, vehicle signage, etc.
The event was also attended by the CEO of OK Mobility, Othman Ktiri, who announced that his company will have sufficient fleet of vehicles to facilitate these leasings for the sector.
