THE MAGALUF SEA FRONT FIRST PHASE WORKS ARE OUT FOR TENDER
This action is financed by European funds, through the tourism sustainability plans in destinations
The first phase of the Magaluf seafront remodeling project is out for tender, to begin the works in the winter of 2023-2024. This project's first phase will be carried out with €4M from European Funds, through the tourism sustainability plans in destinations.
The project consists of renewing the beach promenade built in 1990, which united the entire Magaluf beachfront for the first time, allowing long walks with sea views. The objective is to improve and update a mature tourist area that has been undergoing renovation, from the public and private spheres, in the last years.
The promenade's remodeling covers from the confluence from the street and the current promenade, on the southwest side, to its confluence with Francisca Pujol Terrasa street, to the northeast, as well as the remodeling of the central rainwater exit. The promenade will be rearranged and embellished and all its infrastructure and services will be renewed, such as lamps; sewage, rainwater (with a collection tank for irrigation), drinking water and irrigation networks; and street furniture. A network will be created for the use of runoff rainwater for irrigation and another for the use of water from the groundwater for foot showers.
The project includes the partial relocation of existing palm trees and the planting of new ones to create small oasis areas, instead of the current aligned layout. Likewise, artificial dunes will be arranged on the beach sand, on which Mediterranean riverside shrubs will be planted to permanently retain the sand.
