THE ENTORN DE CALVIÀ PUBLICATION DEDICATES A MONOGRAPH TO THE 80s AND 90s
The magazine delves into the demographic evolution of the municipality, in the changes of the PGOU, and in the development of mass tourism
Issue 16 of the 'Entorn de Calvià' magazine dedicated to the 80s and 90s was presented this afternoon, in the Calvià Town Hall gardens.
During the 'Entorn de Calvià' presentation event, the mayor, Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, highlighted that the 80s were special years for all of Spain with a regained freedom, with a democracy that was beginning to walk and enjoyed a transforming impulse. And it was no different for Calvià, which also had a transformative evolution, he added, «A Calvià that was giving options to those who came to enjoy the destination, and a Calvià that changed its perspective by taking care of the resident.
Schools were built, he recalled, they opted for the Paseo Calvià that gave cohesion to the municipality, and they thought of a Calvià that should protect its territory, with the Agenda Local 21. These were fundamental years to understand Calvià today. An innovative and benchmark Calvià that had the ability to project itself into the future».
All the Entorn de Calvià-Los años 80 y 90 publication contents have been written by the Town Hall workers, with the exception of the dossier on the evolution of the population in Calvià (1980-2000), by the human geography professor, Pere A.
