CALVIÀ WILL BE THE HEADQUARTERS OF A BOOZE FREE TOURISM FORUM

The mayor of Calvià and the British Consul General express their desire to "collaborate closely with the 'balconing zero' objective"

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, and the British Consul General, Lloyd Milen, have agreed on "the creation of a debate forum in which take part all the agents involved in the proper functioning and result of a coexistence and booze free tourism in the municipality of Calvià,”, as stated by the Calvià mayor after the meeting held at the town hall.

Both representatives have expressed their desire to "collaborate closely with the 'balconing zero' objective, reinforcing the dialogue channels between both institutions".

As a result of this "great harmony" and will to join forces, they have coincided in highlighting the "work already being done actively, in origin, in terms of leisure and booze free tourism and, at destination, to schedule cultural activities aimed at the British community thus reinforcing its leisure offer”.

Together with Amengual, Esperanza Català, first deputy mayor of Calvià, responsible for Local Police, Civil Protection, Cleaning, Calvià 2000, Youth, Participation and Festivities, and Elisa Montserrat, deputy mayor for Tourism, Beaches, Commerce, Innovation and Quality, have also participated in the institutional meeting.

Esperanza Català pointed out that "Calvià has just over 52.000 inhabitants and, since May we have received another 52.000 Britons, which gives an idea of the volume that this issuing market represents for our municipality".

Accompanying Milen were Sarah Cowley, Minister Counselor of the British Embassy; Lucy Gorman and Rachel Watkins, consul and vice consul for the Balearic Islands, respectively.
