JUAN ANTONIO AMENGUAL IS THE NEW MAYOR OF CALVIÀ

The eight councillors of the Popular Party and the five of VOX of the municipal corporation voted for him in the inaugural plenary session for a four-year term

The member of PP Juan Antonio Amengual Guasp was sworn in on Saturday morning, 17th June, as mayor of Calvià with the support of the Popular Party and Vox coalition, which have joined the government team. In the opposition is the PSOE, which presented its candidate for the investiture.

In a full plenary room, as in other rooms of Calvià Town Hall, the audience was able to hear the first words of the mayor Amengual Guasp. After being sworn in, he thanked the trust placed in him, the desire for change and assured that: "We want Calvià to have municipal services provided with quality and efficiency. We want to bring the Town Hall closer to the citizens, facilitating and simplifying all municipal procedures" .

Another of the points that the popular mayor emphasised was the fight against both, the loneliness of the elderly and the digital gap. The family and youth were also present in Amengual Guasp's speech: "We want to lower rates and taxes, because the best place for money is in the pockets of the citizens." In addition, he added: "We want economic prosperity and attract new investment.".

The Vox spokeswoman, Esperança Català, assured in her speech: "From this moment we set ourselves an objective in which we must all agree: a hopeful future that starts today from the present and we are going to achieve it with a brave, strong, with a great capacity for dialogue, participatory and transparent government ”.

Alfonso Rodríguez Badal, the mayor for the two previous terms, spoke on behalf of the Socialist Party. Rodríguez Badal stated: "I wish them luck in this new role in a company that is complex and exciting at the same time".
