The price of the balconing in Calvià: 36.000 euros fine and immediate expulsion from the hotel
Five tourists have been identified by the Local Police for going from one balcony to another in Magaluf
Five foreign tourists have been fined so far this summer for going from one balcony to another in Calvià hotels in the Magaluf area. The Local Police have reported the cases and identified those responsible. Each of them has been fined a penalty of 36.000 euros and immediate expulsion from the hotel where they were staying. This has been in compliance with the Excesses Tourism Decree.
From Calvià Town Hall, Juan Feliu —general director of Activities and Commerce, Offenses and Sanctions, and Roads and Works— has recalled that “these fines have a powerful deterrent effect.
alconing is not tolerable in our municipality, it is an irresponsible practice that can cause serious irreversible injuries and even death. It is certainly the last thing one would want for those who visit us. This is not leisure, it is a very dangerous irresponsibility and it is not the image we want for our municipality.
In the line of zero tolerance with incivility and excesses promoted by the municipal Executive of Juan Antonio Amengual, the Town Hall has intensified the work of the Local Police officers in controlling balconing. The last case has been detected at 6 a.m. when a tourist was jumping from one balcony to another. The corresponding sanction and expulsion from the establishment has been applied.
