SA MORISCA LAUNCHES A CAMPAIGN AGAINST THE ABANDONMENT OF DOG POOP IN ITS ARCHAEOLOGICAL PARK

Collaborators of the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park launch this week a campaign aimed at improving coexistence between humans and dogs in this public space located in Santa Ponça. With an area of more than 45 hectares and a rich archaeological history, the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park receives more than 70.000 visitors annually. During this week, the Puig de Sa Morisca educational team addresses two fundamental problems that have been the subject of complaints from visitors:

1. Leaving dog poop behind: Some people do not pick up their dogs' poop, which has led to the accumulation of more than 200 droppings in just one walk around.

2. Irresponsible pet walking: Off-leash pet walking has created a number of problems, including lack of waste collection, insecurity for children and adults, and a negative impact on the park's wildlife.

Planned actions

To address these issues, the Puig de Sa Morisca Park's team carries out the following actions:

1. Friendly chat: An information point will be established at the park entrance to chat with visitors, especially those who walk dogs. The objective is to collect opinions and suggestions to find joint solutions.
2. Fun and Clean Action: A dog waste pick-up activity will be held at the entrance and main trails of the park. These will be replaced by fun elements, encouraging pet owners to be responsible.
3. Participation in social media: the project will be promoted on social networks through the @parcsamorisca account. The community is encouraged to share their ideas and tag the project with the hashtags #adioscacas and #samorisca.

The Puig de Sa Morisca educational team would like to remind pet owners that these behaviours are uncivil and contravene municipal regulations, and could result in fines of up to 3.000€. The goal is to create a clean and pleasant park for all people and animals, and community collaboration is essential to achieve this goal.

Together, it is expected to achieve a significant improvement in coexistence in the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park. The community's support and commitment to caring for this unique public space is much appreciated.
