Calvià once again has the Head of the Civil Protection Group and receives around twenty requests for new volunteers
The Town Hall promotes the recovery of the essential volunteer body in the municipality
Reactivation of Civil Protection in Calvià. The General Meeting that included volunteers, the Town Hall - with the representation of the Emergency Director, Nacho Lajo - and the Local Police, has elected Juan Julián Jareño as Head of the group after two years of the position being vacant. Calvià Civil Protection is in the restructuring and revitalisation phase after the crisis of recent years in which it went from being a reference in the Balearic Islands with 70 volunteers to having only seven. At this time, around twenty requests for the incorporation of new volunteers have been registered. Juan Julián Jareño is a veteran of the Group, a man valued by his colleagues with years of experience.
The deputy mayor responsible for Security, Esperanza Catalá, has valued the appointment as "the first step in the Civil Protection recovery": "beyond management and political commitment, returning to the front line of Calvià society, the role that it corresponds to Civil Protection, it is one of my personal objectives. The municipality needs it and we are lucky to have volunteer citizens who altruistically want to join the project with enthusiasm and desire to work.
