SAINT GEORGE ARRIVES IN CALVIÀ AS UNIQUE CULTURAL AND SPORTS CELEBRATION

The municipality of Calvià is preparing to host the Saint George 2024 activities programme, a celebration that merges cultural wealth with sport and fun. From 23rd to 27th April, residents and visitors will have the opportunity to participate in activities that highlight the English identity and the vitality of this community in the municipality.

The party begins with the arrival by boat of Jason Moore, from the Majorca Daily Bulletin, who will carry the English flag of Saint George. Afterwards he will deliver the flag, with a white background and a red cross, to the local authorities of Calvià and to the British consul in the Balearic Islands, Lloyd Milen. The inaugural events, chaired by the mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, and the area councillor, Manuel Mas, will begin a week full of friendship.

One of the most anticipated activities is a showcooking one with the renowned British chef Marc Fosh, an opportunity to taste and learn about English gastronomy in a relaxed atmosphere at Ciro's Restaurant in Palmanova. In addition, film lovers will be able to participate in a meeting with Paul Abrey, executive director of Palma Pictures, to discover the secrets of the production of series such as The Crown (Netflix) in Mallorca.

On the other hand, the sports programme will include activities such as rugby, cricket, badminton, football and others on Es Carregador beach. For children, there will be face painting workshops and circus exhibitions on Passeig de la Mar, accompanied by various musical performances in Font de l'Aigua square in Palmanova.

There will also be space for a handycraft market on the Passeig de la Mar and a cricket exhibition on the Palmanova beach, followed by a circus parade and the presentation of the writer Jeffrey Archer, who will sign books at the Zel Mallorca hotel.
