CALVIÀ CELEBRATES EUROPE DAY
Calvià celebrates, once again, Europe Day with various activities to enjoy a full day in Palmanova. The event organised by the Town Hall will take place this Sunday, 12th May, from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on the Passeig del Mar in Palmanova, where a market of local crafts and international food will be set up. There will also be children's activities and, starting at 11 a.m., a batucada (drums performance) with “Valkiria.”
The official presentation of Europe Day will take place at 11:45 a.m. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, will present the European Citizen of the Year award to Bernardino Zamora Jaume, from SOS Calvià. Ten European associations linked to the municipality have chosen Bernardino Zamora, who works as a waiter in Palmanova, for “his excellent community work during the Covid pandemic.” In times of Coronavirus, Bernardino collected and distributed food and basic necessities among residents of the municipality, on many occasions without any help. The day is completed by the humor of Jaime Gili, the music of DJ Toni Bauzá, and the performances of Naiara Gallardo, Donde Estabas Entonces, and the Ágora Portals Music Band.
