CALVIÀ INVESTS 9.000€ IN THE IDENTIFICATION AND STERILISATION OF DOMESTIC CATS

Subsidy campaign launched for pet owners

Calvià Town Hall is promoting a campaign to identify and sterilise domestic cats by 2024. This initiative seeks to support the owners of these pets through a specific grants call. For this campaign, a maximum budget of 9.000 euros has been allocated. The grants are distributed as follows:

Chip identification: Up to a maximum of 30€.

Female cats sterilisation: Up to a maximum of 80€.

Male cats sterilisation: Up to a maximum of 40€.

In order to access the grants, it is a requirement that cat owners be registered in the municipality of Calvià. A veterinarian's invoice and documentation must be presented proving that the pet is duly identified and registered in the Companion Animal Identification Registry of the Balearic Islands (RIACIB). Grants applications can be submitted until 30th November 2024 through the Animal Welfare section of Calvià Town Hall's website.

This campaign aims to raise awareness amongst the population on the importance of identifying and sterilising companion animals. These measures seek to promote the health and well-being of domestic cats, reduce the number of animals abandoned on the streets and reduce the number of unwanted litters of kittens in the municipality.
