The Municipality of Calvià started the 2nd. programe "Galatzó for all in the schools"

The Municipality of Calvià wants residents of all ages to visit firsthand the Flagship Galatzó Estate. Work is being carried out to ensure that this idyllic place is accesible to everyone.

Last October a  project was started off for our youngest residents "Galatzó for all in schools" for the school year 2007/2008 aimed at students in 2nd and 3rd term of  the primary public schools in Calvià.

"Galatzó for all in schools" is divided into two separate parts. The first of these is the visit to the classrooms by two members of the estates staff,  whom by way of an audio-visual presentation, aim to raise awareness and educate students as to a real life mountain estate.

Galatzó in particular which covers an overall surface of 14 million square metres has a rich biogeographical, enviromental architecture. As well as a wealthy patrimony  with its prehistoric and historical finds.

The first part of this program is carried out between October and December and there are a total of nine schools that have chosen this activity, with 550 students of the school term involved.

The second part of "Galatzó for all in schools" is the visit to the actual estate in school groups. Once there, they also shown an audiovisual presentation as well as  visiting the estates, gardens, auxiliary buildings and an educational excursion to one of the three routes of the public estate.

This part of the program takes place between January and May and, for the moment, some 682 pupils are confirmed, although this figure is expected to increase considerably over the next few days.
