The Town Hall sets up specialist programme for primary age students who suffer from attention deficit disorder and or hyperactivity

New programme of Psyco-educative interaction.
The Town Hall headed by Mayor Carlos Delgado, along with the Municipal institute of education and libraries (IMEB) has started up an education programme for  primary school age children (6-12 years old) that suffer from attention deficit disorder and or hyperactivity.
This service will be offered totally free of charge to the parents and is a fulfillment of an electoral promise. In oder to offer this service 2 specialists in the field of the disorders (ADD and H) have been taken on.
During the first school term 2007-2008 work has been carried out in the detection and diagnosis of the pupils with special needs. Some 64 children will benefit from this specialist programme.
The sessions will take place out of normal school hours and it is planned to develop the programme in four schools of the municipality, the service is available to all residents of Calvia  irrespective of which school they attend.
The programme for ADD and H  will involve direct contact with the childre in order to increase their attention span and reduce impulsive behaviour. There will also be  awareness raising sessions for the parents and information about ADD and H as well as working on education plans.
