Calvià joins the Spanish "Cities for climate" network

The Spanish network "Cities for climate" which forms part of the Spanish Federation of Municipalities and Provinces (FEMP), has confirmed the aqquisition of Calvià to the network. Said network supplies all of the neccesary equipment and tools with which to create a bespoke action plan for combating climate change.

All of the neccesary paperwork needed to submit a request to join the network was approved unanimously at a plenary meeting. This was one of the first steps taken by the organization "Calvià por el Clima", headed up by Jorge Campos, the objective is to develop a municipal plan for the battle against climate change, an important role in all municipalities.

In order to join this network, municipalities have to adopt a set of tasks during the first year which fall into the objective "Calvià strategy aginst climate change" which is in the process of being set by "Calvià por el clima" equally we must understand that various criteria against climate change should be fulfilled via public administration. A board for "Climate change" has already been created by the government team to follow up on policies for prevention and reduction of contamination.

In actual fact the action plan pack developed by Calvià strategy includes other tasks for efficient energy saving both in the municipality and on a domestic level, implementation of renewable energy systems, increase in green protected areas, transport plan and sustainable mobility measures that fully meet the requirements for the first year incorcoration as set out by the Spanish network "Cities for Climate"..

We should bear in mind that all action taken by Calvià Town Hall and all initiatives that are being worked upon place Calvià at he top of the Balearic list of municipalities in activating a global plan to combat climate change by way of a whole array of completed tasks which will benefit all residents.
