The new centre was inaugurated last Thursday by Fransesc Antich and Carlos Delgado. The project has cost some 1,9 millon euros
The 2.374 residents of Bendinat from between the outskirts of Cas Català and the new roundabout at the entrance to Vía de Cintura, have access to medical services offered at the new health centre, recently opened by the President of the Balearic government Francesc Antich; The Mayor of Calvià Carlos Delgado and the Health Minister Vicens Tomàs.
This new Health Centre has required an investment of some 1.9 million Euros and is now up and running. The health Centre was part of the "Calvià al dia" project started by Carlos Delgado during the last legislature. The project had the objective of making improvements and creating new municipal infrastructures. Work on the new health centre started at the end of 2005 with an agreement between Calvià Town Hall and the Balearic Government.
This agreement was part of the 2004-2010 development plan for health infrastructure which as well as taking in the Bendinat health centre, also included the Palmanova centre which was well underway and ready to open, and the Galatzó Health Centre which is currently under construction.
In order to build the Bendinat Health Centre the Calvià Government team donated a plot of 5.144 square metres to the Government, one of the best plots in the municipality worth around one million Euros. In June 2006 the first stone was laid and recently it was officially opened. The centre is open to the public from Monday to Friday from 08.00-15.00 hours. The staff comprises 5 people, a general practitioner, a nurse, a paedriatrician, midwife and an administrator.
The services offered are, Family medicine, Paedriatric medicine, nursing care, home visits, for the chronically sick, well woman clinic, preventative medicine and group health education.
The centre is close to the main Palma/Port Andratx road and is supported at present by Santa Ponçaa health centre but it the short term it will be twinned with Palma Nova centre. Hospital support is offered by Son Dureta hospital.
The building comprises a ground floor and a first floor and has an overall surface area of 1.109 square metres. There are 5 surgery/consulting rooms. It is a compact building , and thought out so that access between floors is optimized and there is good linear flow. The building designed by the architects Antoni Planas and Miquel Serra has excellent disabled access and enjoys natural light and ventilation throughout.
