Official opening of the Ses Rotes  Velles centre.

The Mayor of Calvià Carlos Delgado, together with the Deputy Mayor for Social services and the the elderly, Cristina de Leon, Deputy Mayor for Citizen participation, Esperanza Català and the Councillor for Santa Ponça, José Ramón Montes, inaugurated the new Social Centre Ses Rotes Velles on 20th february, this centre includes the Pensioners club rooms and the residents association as well as the Town Hall Social services offices.

The new building, which has cost around 410.000 €, has been fully financed by Town Hall funds and is situated in the Santa Ponsa sports centre near to the gymnasium.

It is divided into two floors which comprise 150 square metres per floor:

Ground floor: Premises of the Pensioners Association.

  • Comprises a kitchen, bar, office, store room, two multi-use rooms which have a sliding centre door, terrace and two bathrooms, (one of which is adapted for disabled.) These premises are used for recreational purposes as well as training, education and sport.

First floor: On this floor we find the Residents Association and the Social Services offices.

  • The residents association area comprises of a large multi-use room and an adapted bathroom.
  • The Social Services area consists of three offices, archive room meeting rooms and two adapted bathrooms. The professional working team consist of Social workers, social educator, psycologist, family workers and administrative staff who are able to offer social services guidance and assesment, family affairs, infants and youth. Caring for the elderly, women and people with disabilities.

The new Ses Rotes Velles centre is the first multi use building of its kind that belongs to the Town Hall in the Santa Ponsa area and which fulfills the previos absence of social and cultural infrastructures.

In addition this forms a big part of the plan for improvement for Centres for the elderley which has assumed a global investment of 861.600 euros.

  • Extension of the other two premises of the Paguera centre

  • Terrace enclosure and air conditioning in Magalluf
  • Air conditioning and adapting of the bathroom for disabled in Son Caliu
