The XXV editions of the Marathon and half marathon of Calvià already have 530 participants and this number will almost certainly have grown by the closing date which is Saturday 13th December. Runners originate from 16 different countries, amongst them the Spaniard Fabián Roncero, record holder from the 2001 European marathon and runner up all time Spanish National with a time of 2 hours 7.23 minutes.

The XXV marathon and half marathon are sponsored by Calvià Town Hall and the Caja del Mediterráneo (CAM) bank and organised by the Association of sports Calvià, ADA Calvià.

The race starts on Sunday 14th December at 09.00 hours at the starting point which is at Magaluf sports centre. This year a new event is introduced, the 10.000 metre Nordic Pole Walking. This new event to date has only been carried out in countries such as Germany and the U.S.A., there are already around 50 participants signed in.

In addition, in between the 12th and 14th Palmanova will be the venue for the 3 Nordic Pole Walking days. The award ceremony will take place on Sunday at 17 .00 hours at the Hotel Magaluf Park.

Prior to the marathons taking place there will be the pasta meal, which goes on at 13.00 hours on Saturday 13th at the Hotel Sol Magaluf Park .On Friday 12th as from 17.00 to 20.00. and on Saturday between 10.00 and 21.00 hours there will be the " Runners fair, during which runners bibs can be collected..

In order to further celebrate the " Silver wedding" of the marathon sponsorship will also be provided by Unicef, with the strapline "Participate without effort" for those people who wish to make a contribution without actually running the race, so make a simbolic donation to good causes such as infants in need . These people can collect a "zero" none runners number for the cost of 5 or 10 Euros.
