Enrollment can be done in Es Generador, the Cultural centres, the Department of Culture and on the Town Hall website

This month Calvià Town Hall's Department of Culture and Youth have set in motion "The Calvià Timer" project, which consists of the exchange of skills and knowledge amongst the Calvià residents.

Using the slogan "exchanging a little of your time for a little of mine we can do great things", Es Generador gives every resident of the municipality the opportunity to offer an activity in exchange for receiving knowledge about others. The possibilities are endless, and range from learning to play a musical instrument, languages, cookery, doing small electrical jobs in the home, skate-boarding, using new technology or surfing the net, amongst many others.

The registration period is now open, and, so far, the most popular choices have been computer skills, basic guitar and digital photography. Anyone wishing to take part can complete an application form in Es Generador, the Cultural centres  or at the Town Hall's Culture Department . Registration can also be done on line using the Town Hall's official website - www.calvia.com.

For registration, the interested party should specify which activity/activities they would like to receive, and also those they can offer in exchange. With this information, the coordinators of the project will contact the applicants to arrange the different exchanges. The project is scheduled to begin on 30th March.

Each member of the "timer" will be provided with a "time account" which will indicate their debits and credits. Should any member be unable to offer any skills, but wishes to receive, they can cover their time "deficit" by acting as a collaborator in any of the activities organised by the Department of Culture and Youth throughout the course of the year. Furthermore, members of the "timer" are permitted to transfer hours to each other (in certain cases).

To find out which services are being offered and requested, a news bulletin will be published every month on the website with details of what's available to exchange. This information will also be displayed on the notice board at Es Generador.
