Calvià allows nightclubs to open at 6 p.m. to improve rest and community harmony.
  • The new schedule responds to a change in consumption habits, as well as promoting tourism and increasing its quality
  • The measure is also intended as a tool to encourage people to move around shopping and dining areas during the day

The Plennary Session of the Calvià Town Hall has definitively approved the modification of the municipal regulations to allow nightclubs to open from 6 p.m. This measure's main objective is to adapt the local leisure offerings to new tourism trends, promoting a "tardeo" (afternoon partying) model that is already successful in major European destinations and seeks to raise the quality of tourism in the municipality.

The decision responds to a notable change in consumption and leisure habits observed in recent years, where more and more visitors, both national and international, prefer to enjoy daytime or evening activities rather than the traditional nightlife model that begins late at night and continues until the early hours of the morning. Moving forward opening hours allows the destination to align with current demand that prioritizes a quality experience during the day.

This change in model, in addition to being requested by residents, attracts a more mature, responsible, and affluent visitor profile. This type of visitor seeks to enjoy leisure activities without having to stay out until the early hours, which contributes more equitably to the local economy and generates fewer incidents related to excessive consumption or antisocial behaviour.

Furthermore, the measure is envisioned as a key tool for improving coexistence and residents' rest. By bringing forward opening hours and concentrating activity in the afternoon, noise levels and pedestrian traffic are significantly reduced during the times most sensitive to residents' sleep. This reinforces the image of a municipality that respects the environment.

The possibility of enjoying quality leisure activities for more hours of the day expands the tourism offerings and helps to reduce the seasonality of tourism. Early evening socialising and leisure activities encourage people to frequent shopping and dining areas during the day, generating a positive effect throughout the tourism value chain.

Incorporating this responsible and organised leisure model projects a modern, European, and safe image of the destination. Opening earlier doesn't mean more noise or chaos; on the contrary, it means planning, regulation, and an offering tailored to current demand, where fun and quality tourism coexist.
