- A delegation from Albacete travelled to Mallorca for the celebration and to meet with the Calvià residents
- The origins of the celebration in Calvià date back to 1996. In 2016, they became twinned municipalities
Sant Joan Baptista parish church in Calvià village was adorned this Sunday to celebrate the traditional mass and procession in honour of the Virgen de la Cabeza. The day takes on special significance, as it marks 30 years since Calvià residents born in Nerpio (Albacete) began organising these festivities, consolidating a tradition that unites both communities. The official twinning between the municipalities of Calvià and Nerpio, originally established in 2016 to coincide with the 20th anniversary, has been reaffirmed as a symbol of unity and support for Calvià residents of Albacete origin. "After 30 years, a significant milestone, the twinning between Calvià and Nerpio is stronger than ever," declared the Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual. "I am grateful for the involvement of Nerpio Town Hall, which is present year after year. This celebration defines us as an open and inclusive municipality; festivals from other parts of Spain and Europe have taken root here and are now part of our culture, heritage, and identity."
The solemn mass and subsequent procession were attended by a distinguished group of Calvià municipal authorities, headed by Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual. The Nerpio Municipal Band was also present.
