The budget amounts to 122 million euros, which represents a 5 percent reduction compared to the previous year (128) as established by the fiscal rules of the central Executive - limits on the fiscal deficit, public debt and rate of growth of expenditure.
53.49 percent of the budget is invested in Chapter 1 (personnel expenses). The areas that increase their budget are Rural World, Commerce, Human Resources, Information Technology, Culture, Tourism, Coast and Communication. Information Technology increases by 14.6 percent to alleviate the impact of the cyber attack suffered and the necessary technical and security adaptation. Rural World rises by 7.26 percent, largely due to the 33 percent increase in subsidies to farmers.
Tourism increases its budget by 8.19 percent and Coast by 29.43 percent due to the increase in the coast taxes and measures to improve and maintain beaches (shaded areas for people with reduced mobility and new surveillance towers).
In Housing, the temporary sale of municipal land for new VPO developments is proposed and aid for the installation of lifts is maintained.
Police and Civil Protection register a budget decrease of 0.65 percent, below the 5 percent of other areas. Participation, Youth and Events decrease by 1.59 percent, although the camp programmes at Finca Galatzó are extended and will extend to Easter in addition to Summer. Social Services decreases by 5.37 percent due to the fact that the home delivery service is transferred to Llar de Calvià.
Subsidies have been managed and obtained to finance actions to improve competitiveness in the tourism sector, within the framework of the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, financed by the European Union. 1.58 million euros will be allocated to the purchase and demolition of the Hotel Colón in Peguera, which will be converted into a public space. The same will be done with the Hotel Teix for an amount of 4.29 million euros, which will gain 2,000 square metres in the heart of Magaluf. With funds from the ITS, 5.3 million euros will be invested. On its behalf, Vías y Obras will have an additional 5.2 million euros: 998,000 euros for Torrenova; 1.25 million for the Peguera boulevard; 3 million for Phase II of the Magaluf Promenade. By virtue of the Pact for the Improvement of Sanitation and Purification, an extra 2 million will be available for the Santa Ponça Wastewater Treatment Plant.
The mayor of the municipality, Juan Antonio Amengual, has maintained that it is the "best budget for Calvià (...) an enormous job carried out by the Economic Area in collaboration with all the municipal areas. A complete analysis Area by Area, department by department and for each budget item. The result is the budget that we are presenting today to the plenary session and that is the result of the consensus between the two political parties that make up the municipal Government team: Partido Popular and VOX".
