Calvià today celebrates Europe Day, a day celebrating coexistence and European values, with an international market, children’s workshops, bouncy castles and a varied programme of musical performances on Palmanova’s Passeig de la Mar.

This morning, amongst other activities, the 'European Citizen of the Year in Calvià' award was presented in Calvià. This year the award went to Rosemary Ann Stone of the Allen Graham - Charity 4 Kidz Foundation, a non-profit organisation located in Calvià.

The award was presented by Xesca Ramis, General Director of Institutional and Parliamentary Relations, who in her speech highlighted that Europe Day "is a unique opportunity to vindicate everything we have achieved together, but it must also be a day to look to the future and to ensure that future generations enjoy an even more integrated, sustainable and peaceful Europe. Today, more than ever, we must remember that our diversity is our strength."

Since 1992, Rosemary Ann Stone, together with her husband Allen Graham, has dedicated all her efforts to helping children and young people in Mallorca who, for reasons beyond their own control, haven't had the opportunity to develop the social and professional skills necessary to ensure a decent future. She stated that "receiving the award for me is something super emotional and which I didn't expect. "I'm very happy."

The Allen Graham Charity 4 Kidz Foundation serves children and young people from all over the island and works to give them a better future. "Our task is to help children who don't have parents, who don't have help, or who are from families in Mallorca who need temporary assistance," emphasised the award winner. Additionally, the Foundation also assists older people who don't speak the language, for example in health centres and hospitals; and people who, even if they do, don't know where to go to solve problems or request certain benefits or services.

Mayor Juan Antonio Amengual stated in his speech that Calvià is the most cosmopolitan municipality on the islands and is home to people from more than 150 countries. He noted that "here, more than anywhere else, native and adopted Mallorcans mingle with other Calvià residents from many places, especially the United Kingdom and Germany." The mayor explains that these are "families who have fallen in love with our land, our cuisine, our climate, and also our people."

Europe Day is an event organised by Calvià Town Hall to reaffirm the municipality's commitment to the principles of the European Union, such as solidarity, respect, cultural diversity, mutual understanding, and social cohesion.
