Calvià Town Hall, through its Youth Department, presents a new edition of Friki Day, the major annual event dedicated to geek culture, alternative leisure, and Asian culture. The event will take place next Saturday, 16th May, at Es Generador premises—8 Voranova St., Son Caliu—, from 4:00 to 9:00 p.m.
The day is designed as an open day aimed especially at young people between 12 and 30 years old, although access is free of charge and open to the general public interested in disciplines such as cosplay, gaming, or K-pop. This year, the event's image has special significance, as the poster was designed by Alba Soto, a young user of the Youth Services.
A programme for all tastes
Friki Day 2026 has designed an ambitious programme that fills all the premises' areas:
- Gaming and Technology Zone: Spaces with PS4, PS5, Nintendo Switch, computers, and retro video games.
- Action and Strategy: Laser tag, escape room (exclusively for young people aged 12 to 30), and card tournaments such as One Piece and Pokémon trading.
- Creative Workshops: Crafts, hama beads, cubecraft, tote bag printing, badge making, and drawing.
- Asian Culture: Korean writing workshop, caricatures, show cooking with sushi tasting, and a Korean food truck.
Cosplay and K-pop contests
The highlight of the afternoon will be the Cosplay and K-pop contests, coordinated by specialised youth organisations. The Cosplay contest will award prizes in the general category, for the best proposal by a young person from Calvià, and for best performance. The K-pop contest (individual and group) will also have a specific award for local talent.
An event by and for young people
The success of the event is thanks to the Youth Service team and the direct involvement of 35 young volunteers who will actively participate in the promotion and development of the activities. According to the Youth Service, the main objective is "to promote creativity and healthy leisure, creating meeting spaces where young people can share their interests in a safe and inclusive environment."
