The parks in Son Ferrer, Santa Ponça, Peguera and Calvià Village are now added to those in Galatzó and Son Caliu
The infrastructures have been made possible thanks to the agreement between the Town Hall and the Consell de Mallorca
Three more bio-healthy parks will open at the beginning of the year. The first is located in Punta Nadala (Palmanova)
Calvià has four new calisthenics parks for free use by citizens, in addition to the two existing ones in the Galatzó residential estate and in Son Caliu. With the parks in Son Ferrer, Santa Ponça, Peguera and Calvià Village, there are now six facilities of this type that have been opened. This has been made possible thanks to the agreement between the consistory and the Consell de Mallorca.
The Town Hall has provided both public space and foundation, with the investment for the equipment being covered by the island entity.
The Calvià Town Hall's Deputy Mayor for Sports, Javier Tascón, has stressed the importance of having this type of facilities in a project that is part of the Healthy Habits Plan promoted by the Town Hall aimed at citizens. "It is a commitment to sport and to offering free alternatives for public use to facilitate the practice of exercise," he said. Tascón has announced that at the beginning of 2025 three bio-healthy parks will be opened that will expand the offer of the one already inaugurated in Punta Nadala (Palmanova).
The mayor Juan Antonio Amengual has checked the four parks equipment while thanking the collaboration with the Consell de Mallorca: "this institutional collaboration is what allows us to develop activities and build infrastructures." «We also offer places to practice calisthenics, which is a booming sport that citizens demand», he added. Calvià Town Hall is a member of both, the Spanish Healthy Cities Network (RECS) and the National Health System Health Promotion and Prevention Strategy, with the aim of improving the health of citizens and creating healthy environments for the benefit of residents. For this reason, citizens have the Calvià Municipal Healthy Habits School at their disposal. Its objective is to promote health and prevention by offering tools and programmes to encourage a healthy lifestyle. It is aimed at all Calvià residents willing to improve their health, take care of themselves and feel good.
