- Drinks and food that do not meet health guarantees have been confiscated
- 20 reports have been issued and 8 people have been identified
The Calvià Local Police has reinforced in recent weeks its control, reporting, and prevention actions against unauthorised street vending on the municipality's beaches, with the aim of guaranteeing safety, public health, and coexistence.
The purchase of food and drinks from illegal vendors poses a risk to the consumer, since there are no health guarantees and, in many cases, the cold chain necessary for the conservation of the products is broken, which can lead to health problems.
Police officers have carried out preventative patrols, identified suspected offenders, and processed reports in accordance with current regulations. The balance of this operation in the last week includes 20 reports issued and the identification of 8 people suspected of carrying out illegal activities. Under the Municipal Ordinance on Coexistence, the fine imposed in each case is 600 euros, which can be reduced to 300 euros in the case of prompt payment. The interventions have taken place on the beaches of Magaluf, Son Maties, Palmanova, Santa Ponça, and Peguera.
