Calvià Town Hall, through its Commerce Department, has announced the relaunch of its successful local commerce promotion campaign, “Calvià lo Vale.” This initiative aims to encourage consumption amongst residents by distributing discount vouchers, providing direct support to the municipality's commercial fabric. The campaign has, once again, the collaboration of the Chamber of Commerce. Last year, almost 60 local businesses joined the initiative. Interested businesses have until 12th November to register.
This year, the number of vouchers available to residents has increased. The total has risen from 144.000€ last year to 250.000€, a 73.6% increase that will translate into half a million euros in sales for local businesses. Calvià residents, over 16 years of age, can benefit from up to four discount vouchers per person, valued at 10€ each. These vouchers will be applied to minimum purchases of 20€ at participating establishments. Thus, for every 10€ contributed by the Town Hall, 20€ in sales will be generated for local businesses.
25.000 vouchers will be made available to residents for direct redemption at participating businesses. The campaign focuses on the Christmas shopping season. It will begin on 1st December and will run until 31st January 2026, or until vouchers run out. To ensure the effectiveness and proper management of the vouchers, the Town Hall is once again relying on the technical collaboration of the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce.
The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, stated that "this is a commitment to local businesses that will generate at least half a million euros in sales. In previous years, the vouchers ran out, and we are confident of repeating that success."
Both, Town Hall and Chamber of Commerce have renewed the agreement to join forces in boosting local businesses. This agreement not only contributes to the economic revitalisation of the municipality but also promotes responsible consumption.
According to the agreement, the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce will assume the comprehensive management of the campaign, including: providing information and answering questions for businesses and residents; reviewing applications and coordinating the technological platform; and overseeing the redemption of vouchers and payments to participating establishments.
This simplifies the process for both residents and businesses. As in the previous edition, the vouchers will be applied directly at the time of purchase, eliminating the need to pay in advance or download discounts beforehand. This method simplifies use and encourages immediate consumption at local businesses. Residents simply need to show their ID.
Calvià Town Hall covers the full cost of 10€ per voucher, ensuring that participating establishments receive the full discount amount promptly through the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce.
"Data from recent editions demonstrates that voucher campaigns are a successful formula. We thank Calvià Town Hall for entrusting the Chamber to manage this new edition and for working together to boost commercial activity in the municipality," said Eduardo Soriano, President of the Mallorca Chamber of Commerce.
The call is open to retail businesses in Calvià managed by self-employed individuals, micro-enterprises, or small businesses. The aim is to focus support on local businesses, therefore excluding large chains and establishments larger than 400 square metres.
Restaurants, bars, and cafes regulated by the Balearic Islands Tourism Law are also eligible to participate. In this case, it is important that discounts are not limited solely to alcoholic beverages.
