- On 16th October, the Town Hall invites all citizens to discover 'Calvianers', a series that portrays the history of the municipality and is launched with Magaluf
Calvià Town Hall will present, at a special gala on 16th October, the audiovisual series 'Calvianers', a project that seeks to recover the social history of the different areas of Calvià through the eyes and memories of its protagonists. The event, open to all citizens, will be held at the Melià Calvià Beach Hotel from 8 p.m.
The first part of the production consists of 10 interviews that collect the testimonies of ten key people whose families settled in Magaluf between the years 1960 and 1980. The Magaluf area began its large-scale tourist journey with the opening of the emblematic Hotel Atlantic in 1958.
The production makes visible the transformation of this urban centre through human relationships and social cohesion, key elements that allowed residents to face challenges and build a place with "soul", beyond its economic evolution.
In the premiere of the series 'Calvianers', Calvià Town Hall has wanted to move away from stereotypes by showing a more intimate, close and familiar side of Magaluf.
The 'Calvianers' series
The 'Calvianers' series, which is expected to tour the different areas of the municipality, is a tribute to those who, with their enthusiasm and effort, sowed the roots of a common identity that continues to evolve to this day.
Through testimonies, archives and reconstructions, the aim is to show how people organised themselves, supported each other and created an environment where a sense of belonging and effort were fundamental.
The project, by going beyond a simple historical-tourist chronicle, focuses on personal commitment, tireless work and faith in what they were building of a community that transformed an agricultural municipality into the Calvià of today.
With this initiative, the Town Hall seeks to deepen the social cohesion of the municipality, through the testimony of people who have built the Calvià of today. In this sense, the Town Hall's intention is to extend the project to the rest of the areas.
Free admission until full capacity is reached.
