Calvià presents the awards of the photography competition 'Mi rincón Favorito de Calvià'

The mayor has received the winners of a contest that promotes creativity and tourism promotion

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has presented this morning a diploma and a cash prize to the winners of the competition Mi rincón favorito de Calvià, organised by Corto España. The first prize, worth 200 euros, has been awarded to Rubén Molina Fernández for his Space Party photograph of shooting stars over the Illes Malgrat. The second prize, valued at 100 euros, has been awarded to María Cristina Reus Llagostera, for her photo of a night view of Calvià vila. The two best images from amongst the more than 50 submitted to the competition are thus recognised under the hashtag #mirinconfavoritodecalvia.

The aim of the competition has been to stimulate the participants' creativity and promote Calvià through the eyes of its citizens. To this end, the social network Instagram was chosen, given its popularity, especially amongst young people, and the viral potential of the images shared by the contestants.

In addition, the winning photograph will be eligible for the national awards of the Mi rincón favorito project, the results of which will be announced on 27th September, coinciding with World Tourism Day. The My Favourite Corner project, which will celebrate its fourth edition in 2024, has gathered more than 7,000 images in 50 local competitions throughout Spain in its first three years. The initiative encourages the creation of visual content for cultural purposes, while promoting local tourism through citizen participation on social media.
