- The guide has been presented to the specialised staff at the Santa Ponça Health Centre
- Health professionals will have access to accurate information to refer and guide their patients
The Calvià Social Services Department has presented the Guide to Activities and Resources for Active and Healthy Aging and the Catalogue of Basic Community Social Services Benefits to the Santa Ponça Health Centre's healthcare staff, at a meeting aimed at strengthening coordination between the health and social sectors.
A total of 20 professionals, including medical and nursing staff from the various Basic Health Units of the Santa Ponça coordinating centre, received direct information about the social resources available in the municipality, with the aim of facilitating population access to them.
This collaboration aims to provide specialised medical and nursing staff with useful tools for their daily work, especially when caring for older adults and their families, who frequently visit the health centre and require guidance on the services and activities available in Calvià.
The Activities and Resources Guide compiles proposals and services that promote healthy aging, while the Benefits Catalogue updates the range of basic community social services, providing healthcare professionals with accurate information for referring and guiding their patients.
Calvià currently has more than 50.000 inhabitants, of whom almost 12.000 are over 64 years of age and more than 25.000 are over 50. Demographic projections show an accelerated aging of the population due to the low birth rate and increased life expectancy.
In this context, having up-to-date and accessible resources is essential, since a significant portion of the user population in health centres is aging.
