Calvià promotes the Torrenova tower's public estate restoration to create a new space for the public.

  • The first phase of the project includes the area's adaptation, the bracing of the buildings, and the contracting of an executive project
  • Funding of one million euros has been received from the Sustainable Tourism Tax of the Balearic Government

Calvià Town Hall will begin the restoration works of the Torrenova tower's public estate, an 18.000-square-metre green space located on the coastline between Palmanova and Magaluf.

The land, which faces the sea and was acquired by expropriation in 2023 for 11 million euros, will become a new green lung open to the public. The area has outstanding natural and heritage value.

The first phase of the project includes various actions such as cleaning the surroundings and adapting the area. The Town Hall will shore up the existing structures, including two abandoned homes by architect Josep Ferragut—listed as Sites of Cultural Interest—and a 17th-century defence tower. A project will also be drafted to define the intended uses of the space. These first three projects have been funded with almost one million euros from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) of the Balearic Government.

The property offers numerous possibilities that will need to be addressed in the project. The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, has highlighted that the objective is to convert this enclave into a public space that serves as a meeting point for both residents and visitors.

Although the restoration of the estate and its elements is a complex task, and will still take some time to be completed, the plan is for the space to be preliminarily open to the public after the initial phase of land preparation within a year, in May 2026.

With this project, the Town Hall reinforces its desire to enhance the municipality's emblematic public spaces, such as the Torrenova tower itself, the Puig de sa Morisca Archaeological Park, or the Galatzó public estate, in whose first phase of renovation 5.7 million euros will be invested.
