The proceeds from a buñolada, a paella and five concerts will go to help the groups affected by the devastating storm
The Calvià Town Hall, together with various entities and groups in the municipality, has promoted various initiatives to raise funds and cooperate with people affected by the DANA that has hit the Mediterranean coast hard, especially the Valencian Community. The activities allow the Calvià community to collect cash and essential materials, always committed to social causes and humanitarian support.
The pioneers have been the Adult Education Centre (CEPA) of Calvià with the organisation of a solidarity bun that managed to raise 1,385 euros to help those affected by the DANA. In addition to the collection, sanitary materials have been collected, such as 100 litres of hydroalcoholic gel, 2,400 FFP2 masks and 1,850 surgical masks. All these resources have been delivered to the Falla El Toro - Casa de València in Calvià, which will be responsible for delivering them to the affected areas. In addition, this entity, in collaboration with the Calvià Town Hall, has organised a charity paella next Sunday 1 st December in Plaza Europa in El Toro. The ticket sales points are the Elena and Katy hairdressers, the Jaime Butcher's Shop, the Spar supermarket and the Mesón Cal Pulga, in El Toro; the Anyva Butcher's Shop and Paisajismo Integral Alfabia Natura, in Santa Ponça; and the Margalida Comas pharmacy, in Son Ferrer, and the Belén Gómez pharmacy, in Es Figueral (Marratxi).
The municipality also wanted to contribute to the cause through its cultural offering. Various events at the Peguera Auditorium will allocate all their proceeds to help the victims of the DANA:
• The Mòpia jazz concert, on 23rd November, where Josep Oliver Rubio and Jaume Rosselló, join their talents to create a show that mixes two styles.
• The Zarzuela Gala, on 6th December, with the Capella Mallorquina, conducted by José María Moreno, Alicia Moreno on piano and the participation of the Calvià Dance School.
• The concert Si Bastasen un Par de Canciones on 14th December, in which tribute will be paid to artists such as Sergio Dalma, Miguel Bosé, Eros Ramazzotti and Alejandro Sanz.
• The tribute to Los Javaloyas and company, will be on 11th January in honor of the leader of the legendary band Los Javaloyas, with the participation of former colleagues and the SimfoVents group.
On its behalf, the Calvià Municipal Music Band will play on 22nd December at the Sa Societat Theater and will donate all the money raised to two musical associations in Valencia.
Calvià, with its spirit of solidarity, thus demonstrates its commitment to those who need it most.
