Calvià to present its “Año de Cine 2026” at the Berlinale.

  • In collaboration with Conecta, the Town Hall will unveil the MICE Conecta-Magaluf  event, to be held at the end of May, at the European Film Market in Berlin
  • The Mayor of Calvià will travel to Berlin to also present the “Calvià, plató de cine'' (Calvià, film set) project and position the municipality as an international audiovisual destination

Calvià Town Hall will participate in the European Film Market, a meeting of the international audiovisual industry that coincides with the Berlin International Film Festival (Berlinale), one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world, to present its “Año de Cine 2026,” a comprehensive strategy for the cultural and audiovisual positioning of the municipality.

The presentation will take place on Friday, February 13, at 5:30 p.m. in the Business Lounge of the Gropius Bau Building, within the framework of the European Film Market (EFM). It will bring together between 100 and 150 professionals from the sector, including producers, audiovisual industry executives, specialised media outlets, and representatives from the international tourism and film sectors.

The mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, will attend the Berlinale to present the “Calvià, Film Set” project, a route that highlights the municipality as a location for films, international series, advertising campaigns, and widely distributed music videos filmed in various parts of the municipality. The project proposes a tour of emblematic locations that have been part of the history of cinema and contemporary visual culture, reinforcing Calvià's image as a top-tier creative and audiovisual destination.

This tourism and cultural initiative aims to position Calvià as a major audiovisual location of reference, both for industry professionals and the general public. The official opening of the route is planned to coincide with the tenth edition of Conecta, which will take place in the municipality from May 25 to 28, 2026, reinforcing Calvià's international visibility at a key moment for the industry.

The thematic itinerary is part of the municipal strategy that declares 2026 as the Year of Cinema in Calvià, a roadmap that conceives of audiovisual media as a cross-cutting axis of development. In this regard, the mayor emphasised that “the film and visual arts industry occupies a central place in our future strategy: it generates economic activity, strengthens the municipality's tourism profile, and allows us to reinterpret our heritage from a contemporary perspective.”

The presence in Berlin is being facilitated by Conecta, a platform specialising in promoting cultural and industry projects, and will also serve to present the MICE Conecta-Magaluf event, scheduled for the end of May. This event will transform the municipality into a meeting point for professionals in the audiovisual, tourism, and creative sectors through a programme of conferences, professional meetings, and experiences linked to the region.

With this initiative, Calvià is leveraging the international framework of the Berlinale—which each year brings together thousands of professionals and media outlets from around the world—to showcase its commitment to culture, audiovisual production, and specialised tourism, aligned with a strategy of economic diversification and international positioning.

The presentation in Berlin is part of a broader agenda of actions planned within the Year of Cinema 2026, through which Calvià Town Hall seeks to consolidate its role as a location for filming, events, and cultural production, strengthening the links between cinema, tourism and local development.
