Calvià Town Hall celebrates the major investment by the Consell de Mallorca that will renew the tarmac on 30 km of roads between Calvià and Esporles.
  • The roads connecting Peguera and Es Capdellà will be the direct beneficiaries of the road surface renewal, a project worth more than 5 million euros that will improve safety for residents and cyclists

The Calvià Town Hall highly values the final approval by the Consell de Mallorca of the road surface reinforcement project, which will cover a total of 30 kilometres of roads between Calvià and Esporles. This investment, amounting to more than 5 million euros, is of great importance to the municipality of Calvià, as it will directly affect several roads connecting essential areas such as Peguera and Es Capdellà.

The long-awaited improvement project will be carried out on six roads, including sections passing through municipalities such as Esporles, Puigpunyent, and Galilea (Ma-1012, Ma-1015, Ma-1032, Ma-1101, Ma-1100, and Ma-1040). For Calvià, the project involves the complete resurfacing of local and connecting roads, which have not received comprehensive maintenance in over 25 years and are currently in a considerable state of disrepair, with potholes, cracks, and deformations.

Safety and Sustainability: Project Priorities

This improvement to the road surface is essential to increase the safety of all users, especially for Calvià residents who use these roads daily and for cyclists, an important group on our roads. The deteriorated pavement significantly increases the risk of accidents, a problem that will be resolved with these works.

The project, with a planned execution period of 8 months, will carry out the following key technical actions:

  • Road Renewal: Milling of the surface layer and application of new tarmac with thicknesses between 3 and 8 centimeters, depending on the needs of each section.
  • Safety Improvements: Replacement of metal barriers with mixed wood and metal barriers.
  • Comprehensive Maintenance: Cleaning, side clearing, and maintenance of drainage systems to prevent blockages.
  • Signage: Repainting of all horizontal road markings once the application of the new tarmac is complete.
The project focuses on maintaining the existing road network without encroaching on additional land, paying particular attention to forests and protected zones through which some of these roads pass.

Project Timeline

Final approval of the project will allow the bidding process to begin in January 2026. Construction is scheduled to start in March 2026 and is expected to last eight months.
