- The ceremony has taken place today at the town hall building
Calvià Town Hall, through its mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, paid tribute to Civil Guard officer, Óscar Virtudes, and Calvià Local Police officer, Juan Plasencia, for their heroic intervention in the fire that occurred on 10th September at a bar in Santa Ponça.
During the fire, both officers entered the building and managed to rescue a woman who had been trapped by the smoke. Their actions were swift and decisive: thanks to their bravery and composure, they managed to bring her to safety, even risking their own safety.
Those honoured expressed their pride in their actions, emphasising that their greatest gratification was having saved a life. They also emphasised that the collaboration of the State Security Forces is essential to ensure proper work in emergency situations.
In recognition of their dedication and courage, Calvià Town Hall presented them with the Cor de Calvià (Calvià Heart), a reproduction of the work of local artist Carlos Terroba, as a symbol of gratitude from the municipality.
The Mayor, Juan Antonio Amengual, thanked the officers for their professionalism on behalf of the entire corporation and extended this recognition to all their colleagues, who work daily to ensure the safety of the population.
