- Technicians from the winning company AMUNDSEN have held meetings and interviews these days with representatives of the civic society and the business sector of the municipality
Calvià Town Hall faces from this week the final stage of the preparation of the Strategic Tourism Plan 2026-2031. During these days, technicians from AMUNDSEN – the company awarded the contract to develop the Plan – have met with representatives of the civic society and the business sector of the municipality and have held several individual interviews.
The meetings have taken place at the Town Hall, and in them, each of the participants has contributed their vision of the past, present, and future of Calvià in relation to tourism and its impact on the community as a whole.
Those participating in the interviews and roundtables include managers and representatives of daytime and nighttime leisure businesses, hotels and hotel associations, neighbourhood associations, the taxi sector, and the trade sector.
The drafting of the Strategic Tourism Plan began a year ago, and now, after the awarding of the public contract to the specialised company AMUNDSEN, a decisive period begins to chart what should be the roadmap for the coming years, in an environment like tourism, which is always constantly evolving and with destinations competing at the highest level.
The Calvià Strategic Tourism Plan is a dynamic management tool which will guide the municipality in the coming years, within a constantly evolving global and national context. The Plan is being developed following the guidelines established by the Government of the Balearic Islands through the Pact for Sustainability Committee.
Seasonality, new traveler habits, accelerated digitalisation, sustainability, and increasing competition from other Mediterranean destinations are forcing Calvià to adopt a continuous planning process based on the premise that a tourist destination can only grow sustainably when it does so intelligently, participatively, and with shared governance.
About the winning company:
