Calvià Town Hall will begin charging for electric vehicle recharging services starting on 2nd February 2026.

  • The measure will ensure the sustainability of the service and the proper use of municipal recharging points
  • The Town Hall will reinvest the revenue in the maintenance and improvement of the existing network, which is located throughout the municipality

From 2nd February 2026, municipally owned recharging stations will become pay-to-use. The Town Hall remains firmly committed to promoting alternative energies to fossil fuels, prioritising the use of clean energy over traditional fuels. For this reason, the local administration continues to implement actions that facilitate the use of electric vehicles on our roads, aligning itself with energy transition strategies and greenhouse gas reduction targets set by both the central government and the European Union.

To date, resources and efforts have been dedicated to consolidating a uniform charging infrastructure across the island, in order to give citizens confidence that zero-emission mobility is a practical and safe option for the population. Once this initial deployment phase is consolidated, and in line with the management already implemented by numerous municipalities, a new management model is being introduced.

Sustainability and reinvestment

The implementation of this public price has the main objective of ensuring the financial sustainability of the network, promoting responsible use of recharging points, encouraging vehicle turnover, and guaranteeing access to the service for the greatest possible number of users. The Town Hall will reinvest these revenues in the improvement and maintenance of active recharging points, which are currently located in areas such as Calvià village, Es Capdellà, Peguera, Santa Ponça, Son Ferrer, Palmanova, and Costa d’en Blanes.

Management via the MELIB App

Users can easily activate recharging and make payments through the "MELIB 2025" mobile application of the Balearic Islands Electric Mobility network (MELIB). It can be installed on Android or iOS. The MELIB application guarantees interoperability across the entire public network of the Islands. It includes a web map showing the location of public recharging points integrated into the system and their real-time status.

Established rates

The price will be set according to the energy consumed (kWh). The rates in Calvià are as follows:

0,25 €/kWh.

3 € for each hour or time segment exceeding the 4 hours of free parking provided in the recharging spaces.

Current incentives

To continue supporting the introduction of electric vehicles in the urban environment, the Town Hall maintains the following incentives:

  • Free parking in regulated parking zones (ORA) for properly identified electric vehicles.
  • Discounts of up to 75% on the Vehicle Tax (IVTM) for exclusively electric vehicles.

Rules of use and maximum time

The ordinance establishes that the recharging spaces are reserved exclusively for electric vehicles that are actively recharging. The maximum permitted parking time is 4 hours; once recharging is complete or this time has been exceeded, the vehicle must be removed immediately. In case of non-compliance, the Local Police are authorised to remove the vehicle and issue a fine.
