Calvià will invest 6.700.000 € in the second phase of the seafront promenade and in the resurfacing and stormwater drainage improvements on Punta Ballena St. and adjacent streets.

  • The Punta Ballena works, financed with funds from the Sustainable Tourism Tax, will begin in November 2026

Calvià will begin resurfacing and stormwater drainage renovation works on Punta Ballena street in Magaluf and adjacent streets in November 2026. The works will have a total budget of 6.700.000 €, partly from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS), the municipality's own funds, and Next Generation funds.

This was announced by the municipal government at the World Travel Market in London, emphasising that November 2026 was chosen to minimise the impact of the works on tourism.

The second phase of the modernisation of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá Promenade will be carried out this winter. Both phases represent a total investment of €6.2 million from Next Generation EU funds, within the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan, in collaboration with the Ministry of Industry and Tourism and the Balearic Islands Government's Ministry of Tourism, in addition to contributions from the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS).

Juan Antonio Amengual, Mayor of Calvià, stated that these works "will be another step in the renovation and modernisation of Magaluf. A winter construction schedule has been planned to minimise the impact on the tourism sector. With the renovation of the seafront promenade, the Punta Ballena area, the demolition of the Hotel Teix, and the Roads and Works Plan, Magaluf is a destination committed to quality."

Thanks to the Roads and Works plan, with the 7 million euros contributed by the Town Hall—in the so-called ‘Calvià Millora’ plan—work has already been completed on the first phase of improvements to Avenida s’Olivera in Magaluf, and work is underway on Calle Blanc, with a budget exceeding 200.000 euros.

Investments in sports facilities

The Town Hall has also announced a key investment of 1.2 million euros for the upgrading of the municipality's sports facilities, a fundamental action to improve the urban and social quality and strengthen the municipality's reputation as a sports destination.

Furthermore, the municipal delegation highlighted the economic and reputational impact of this investment. Calvià's exceptional weather conditions attract numerous groups of visitors from around the world who choose the municipality for their training and sports activities throughout the year.

43 million € forecast throughout the legislature

Calvià Town Hall is developing an ambitious investment plan during this legislature, exceeding 43 million €, making it the largest economic undertaking in the municipality's history.

The set of projects, covering the period from June 2023 to December 2026, includes completed, ongoing, and out-to-tender projects distributed throughout the municipality with the aim of improving infrastructure, services, and public spaces. €26 million will be managed in the next 12 months.

Amongst the main completed and ongoing investments are the Calvià Millora plan (sidewalks and asphalt) with a budget of €7 million; the two phases of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá Promenade (Magaluf), €6.2 million; and the renovation of the houses at the Galatzó Public Estate, €5.7 million or the renovations of the Peguera Boulevard (over €3 million) and the Rei Jaume I Avenue in Santa Ponça (€5.3 million).

In total, 24 projects are currently completed, underway, or out to tender, representing an unprecedented level of investment.
