- The ‘Discovering Light’ workshop will bring optics to primary school students through simple and fun experiments
- The activity takes place on 14th and 15th May at the Son Ferrer and Son Caliu primary schools
- It is part of the Science City project, promoted by the CSIC in collaboration with 59 municipalities throughout Spain
How does the eye work? What is optical fiber? What are the basic colours? The workshop ‘Discovering Light’ invites students from Calvià to learn the answers to these and many other questions related to optics.
Through simple and fun experiments, researchers from the science outreach group of IOPTICA, belonging to the “Daza de Valdés” Institute of Optics of the CSIC (Spanish National Research Council), will explain concepts such as refraction and reflection.
Students from the Son Ferrer and Son Caliu primary schools will be able to experiment and have fun with these workshops on 14th and 15th May in different sessions, from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.
Ciudad Ciencia (www.ciudadciencia.es) is a science outreach project whose aim is to give residents of Spanish towns and cities firsthand knowledge of current scientific and technological developments. Calvià has been part of the project since 2014.
