The Calvià Town Hall inaugurates the Paseo Gabriel Escarrer Juliá this weekend with a free programme of activities for residents and visitors
Calvià makes history this weekend with the official opening of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá seafront promenade in Magaluf. Two days of free activities, designed for all the family, culminate years of transformation in one of the municipality's most iconic tourist areas.
The Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, emphasized that the seafront promenade's inauguration "is much more than a party or celebration: it's the realization of the new Magaluf, on which administrations, businesses in the retail and leisure sectors, and hoteliers have been working for years. Today, Magaluf is a leading destination, and we want to showcase it to the people of Mallorca and our visitors."
Saturday, 27th June — Symphony Orchestra Concert and 400 Drone Show
The main event is a free concert by the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its principal conductor, Pablo Mielgo, which will perform great film scores. This will be the Symphony Orchestra's first performance on a beach in the Balearic Islands.
The programme begins at 6 p.m. with the Kpop Experience (Kpop Baleares) and DJ Alba Serrano, who will play music until the concert begins at 9:30 p.m. Under the slogan "Calvià is Cinema," the Symphony Orchestra will perform works such as "The Sound of Music," "Indiana Jones," "Superman," and "Schindler's List," accompanied by an aerial show featuring 400 drones that will create figures in the sky related to each piece of music. After the concert, the Balearic band Lost in Translation will keep the party going until midnight.
Throughout the day, the 2nd Magaluf Gastronomic Fair will take place, featuring culinary offerings from a dozen establishments along the seafront promenade: Bondy Beach, Chili Lounge, Ibizza Pizzeria, Pardo's, Kalima, El Balcón de Magaluf, Titanic, Blackbeard's, Oceans, Sirocco Oasis Beach, and Las Palmeras.
Saturday's events will be streamed live on the IB3 website and the Calvià Town Hall's social media channels.
Sunday, 28th June — Film Night with the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest
On Sunday, the Magaluf beach will host a free film screening as a prelude to the 16th edition of the Atlàntida Mallorca Film Fest, which is coming to Calvià for the first time.
The programme, starting at 7:30 p.m., includes the screening of three short films from the Audiovisual from Spain programme Where Talent Ignites and the film The Moment (2026), a mockumentary distributed by A24 that originated from an idea by singer Charli XCX. DJ sets by Sideways and Aina Losange will round out the evening.
Free Shuttle Buses
The Town Hall has arranged a free shuttle minibus service from two pick-up points: the parking lot of the former ITV (vehicle inspection station) in Magaluf (behind Lidl) and in front of Western Park. The arrival and departure point in Magaluf is the Foners roundabout (Plaça La Diligencia/Britania).
- Saturday 27th: Service from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
- Sunday 28th: Service from 6:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.
A renewed, sustainable promenade for everyone
The renovation works on the Magaluf seafront promenade, which began in November 2024, have transformed more than 900 linear metres of the beachfront. The renovation included improvements to the water and sanitation networks, efficient lighting, pedestrianization of areas, planting of drought-resistant flora, and a rainwater collection and reuse system to reduce the use of drinking water.
The total investment was funded by the EU's Next Generation EU Funds and the Sustainable Tourism Tax (ITS) of the Government of the Balearic Islands, with the collaboration of Illes Balears Sostenibles (Sustainable Balearic Islands).
