Magaluf will experience a day of leisure and culture open to residents and tourists on June 27th to mark the completion of the comprehensive renovation of the Gabriel Escarrer Juliá Promenade. A spectacular seaside event has been planned to celebrate the transformation of the waterfront of one of Calvià's most important urban beaches.
The event will blend classical music, cutting-edge technology, and gastronomy. The highlight of the day will be a free, open-air concert by the Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra, conducted by its principal conductor, Pablo Mielgo, who will perform iconic film scores. At 9:30 p.m., under the theme "Magaluf is cinema," the orchestra will present a repertoire focused on great film soundtracks. Another highlight of the day will be an air show at dusk over the bay.
A total of 300 drones will project figures and visual elements related to the film theme, offering a sustainable visual alternative to traditional fireworks. Starting at 6:00 p.m., to liven up the afternoon, there will be KPOP EXPERIENCE, presented by Kpop Baleares and hosted by Sabelly Free along with Lienel, the winning group of the last Kpop on Stage-Calvià event. There will be dance performances and random Kpop routines, as well as a short tribute to BTS.
Later, at 7:30 p.m., DJ Alba Serrano will spin a variety of hits until the concert begins. When the Orchestra finishes its performance, the party will continue with the band 'Lost in Translation', a Balearic musical project made up of Aina Zuazaga, Toni Bestard, and Gonzalo Nadal, who, fusing styles, reinterprets legendary songs from film history.
In addition, the 2nd Magaluf Gastronomic Fair will take place throughout the day, an event that showcases the quality of the local culinary offerings and allows attendees to sample the best dishes from local establishments in a completely renovated setting.
Balearic Islands Symphony Orchestra Concert
The Symphony Orchestra invites the public to enjoy a grand celebration of film music in a concert that brings together some of the most emblematic and exciting melodies of the last century. From the brilliance and sophistication of George Gershwin's 'An American in Paris' to the soundscapes of 'Lawrence of Arabia', the programme offers a journey filled with emotion, nostalgia, and spectacle.
The evening will include unforgettable compositions by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Richard Rodgers, and Claude-Michel Schönberg, before delving into the musical universe of John Williams, author of some of the most celebrated film scores of all time.
The emotion of 'Schindler's List', the adventures of 'Indiana Jones', the heroism of 'Superman', and the epic power of 'Star Wars' will unfold in a true symphonic celebration that will take the audience on a journey through stories, characters, and memories that form part of the collective memory of several generations.
II Magaluf GastroFira
In the second edition of Magaluf GastroFira, various beach clubs and restaurants in the town will participate, offering diverse gastronomic experiences. The area's restaurants and hotels have joined forces to offer an attractive programme that will allow attendees to enjoy a full day, combining leisure, culture, and good food in a unique experience.
Participating establishments, some of which will offer live music, include Bondy Beach, Chili Lounge, Ibiza Pizzeria, Pardo's, Kalima, El Balcón de Magaluf, Titanic, Blackbeard's, Oceans, Sirocco Oasis Beach, and Las Palmeras. Some will have a specially created menu for the occasion, while others will offer discounts on their regular menu prices. In addition, some restaurants will continue to offer their culinary creations and specialties throughout the weekend.
This initiative is part of a campaign to raise awareness on sustainable tourism in Magaluf, promoting responsible behaviour amongst tourists and residents, fostering coexistence and environmental stewardship. An initiative promoted by the Balearic Government and financed through the Sustainable Tourism Tax. Calvià Town Hall frames these actions under the slogan ‘Magaluf for All’.
