- The sporting event brings together 5.000 participants in Santa Ponça every year in May
Mallorca Football Tournament (MFT), in collaboration with its official travel agency, Viajes Adramar, has carried out a charitable initiative to strengthen ties with the municipality of Calvià and give back to the community part of the success the event has achieved over its decade of experience in Santa Ponça.
In a ceremony symbolising the involvement of the sporting event organisers with the Calvià community, two grants of 1.000€ each were awarded to two local associations, selected after an evaluation process of various proposals.
Mr. Harry Engels, CEO and owner of MFT, has donated 1.000€ to the Nemo Foundation, while Mr. Joan Sureda, owner of Viajes Adramar, has given another 1.000€ to the Asdica Foundation. With these donations, both organisations wish to recognise and support the work carried out by these entities in Calvià. The initiative celebrates the tenth anniversary of the tournament in Santa Ponça and serves as a way of thanking the municipality and the Fundación Calvià 365 for their support in consolidating this sporting project.
The Mallorca Football Tournament helps to revitalise the Santa Ponça area each year at the start of the season, serving as a key economic driver in May. The event boasts 5.000 participants who, over three weeks of competition and with an average stay of 5,75 nights per person, generate approximately 30.000 overnight stays directly in the area, in addition to those resulting from the attendance of family members and companions.
The economic impact of the event on Santa Ponça is very significant, as the occupancy of the 14 hotels with which the organisers work also generates a substantial multiplier effect on local restaurants and businesses.
With this initiative, the Mallorca Football Tournament and Viajes Adramar reaffirm that their objective extends beyond sporting success, committing to an integrated and socially responsible event model for the host municipality.
