- The competition, which counts towards the international ranking, will be held from 30th April to 3rd May at the Galatzó Pavilion
- An average expenditure per visitor is estimated at up to 230 euros per day
The municipality of Calvià will host the fifth edition of Mallorca Dance Festival from 30th April to 3rd May. This unmissable event has established itself as one of the most important events on the international dance sport calendar, positioning Calvià as the selected venue for an exclusive event with competitions such as the Absolute European Standard Dance Championship on Saturday and the World Open Latin, one of the competitions that awards the most points for the international ranking, featuring top-level couples that guarantee a first-class show.
The event will bring together more than 1.000 participants from 40 different countries, so the programme extends to four days this year. The Galatzó Pavilion will host the competitions.
Participating couples include members of the local Calvià club, Centre de Ball Mallorca, who compete nationally and internationally: Toni Pomar and Bela Ion, silver medalists in the Spanish Standard Championship; Toni Melià and Esther Romero, podium finishers in the Spanish Standard Championship; Cristian Milenov and Núria Ramos, finalists in the Spanish Standard Championship and recently selected for the European Standard Championship; Gioele Antonielli and Carla Costa, finalists in the European Diez Bailes (Ten Dances) Championship; Paula Delgado, silver medalist in the Spanish Standard Cup and representative at the World Championship; and Vicente Munar and Rosa M García, two-time European Standard Dance Champions.
The championship is co-financed by the Sustainable Tourism Tax fund of the Balearic Islands Government and has the institutional support of the Responsible Tourism Foundation of Mallorca. It is part of the municipal policy of promoting alternative tourism options that offer culture and sport at the destination. Calvià promotes the sponsorship of these events, which represent a strategic investment that attracts greater tourist demand outside of peak season and motivates the local private sector.
According to data from EGATUR (IBESTAT 2025/26), tourists visiting Mallorca spend between 162 and 207€ per day, a figure that rises to 230€ for niche events like the Mallorca Dance Festival. This aligns with the destination diversification strategy promoted by the Town Hall. An internal study by the Fundación Calvià 365 indicates that the 1,7 million euros investment in cultural and sporting events has yielded a return of 22€ for every euro invested, totaling a direct positive impact of 38,5 million euros, in addition to 90€ in advertising impact for every euro invested.
