- The ESO and Bachillerato students have received their diplomas from the Mayor of Calvià
Calvià Town Hall held this Wednesday, in the Town Hall's gardens, the closing ceremony of the 10th Edition of the Vocational Internship Programme, promoted by the IMEB-CUC (Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries – Calvià University Centre). A total of 62 students from 4th year of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education) and 1st year of Bachillerato (High School) have participated this year in this professional guidance initiative, which seeks to bring young people closer to the real labour world and help them define their academic and vocational future.
During the event, testimonies of transformative experiences were shared, allowing them to firsthand experience the work of professionals in sectors such as medicine, engineering, and education.
The Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, closed the round of speeches by recognising the students' efforts and reaffirming the Town Hall's commitment to their future: "We want you to train, to explore your passions, but also to stay. To live and work in Calvià. Because you are the future of this municipality."
This year, 208 internships were carried out in collaboration with 86 public and private entities, including hospitals, architectural firms, security forces, laboratories, communication media, creative studios, and research centres. Since its creation, the programme has facilitated more than a thousand internships and has had the collaboration of 507 organisations and 580 young people.
The programme is not limited to company experience. It includes a comprehensive orientation and counseling process that begins in February, with self-knowledge sessions, information research, CV and interviews preparation, and culminates in the summer with internships in companies.
