The Calvià Vocational Guidance Day celebrates its 10th anniversary with the participation of 350 young people from the municipality.
  • Fourth-year ESO students explored their future at a large event in the Peguera Auditorium
  • Forty public and private entities and companies, more than 35 professionals from different sectors, and almost twenty "young mentors"
  • Almost 4.000 students have attended the event over the past decade

The Calvià Municipal Institute of Education and Libraries (IMEB), through the Calvià University Centre (CUC), organised the 10th Vocational Guidance Day once again under the slogan "Plan your adventure." Three hundred and fifty fourth-year ESO students from the municipality (IES Calvià, IES Son Ferrer, and IES Bendinat) gathered this Wednesday at the Peguera Auditorium. The aim is to provide tools and resources to facilitate decision-making about their future in the academic, professional, and personal spheres. Over the past decade, almost 4.000 students have participated in the workshops. One of the most moving moments was the blowing out of the candles to mark the tenth anniversary of these workshops, now firmly established in Calvià.

The event was attended by, amongst others, the Mayor of Calvià, Juan Antonio Amengual, and members of his municipal government team, as well as Antoni Vera, Minister of Education and Universities of the Balearic Islands Government.

Addressing the young people, Amengual pointed out that: "It's not just about finding a career path, but about finding that point where what you're good at and what you're passionate about can help others." You all have a purpose, a unique vocation, and I assure you that it is possible to combine both.”

The event brought together 40 public and private entities and companies, more than 35 professionals from different sectors, and almost 20 “young mentors.” Four distinct zones were set up, designed to offer a complete and personalised guidance experience.

Zone 1, the Auditorium, hosted the opening ceremony and a vocational presentation by Fernando Tobías, an expert in mindfulness and emotional intelligence and a university professor of professional skills. In Zone 2, organisations and educational centres offered detailed information on access to Baccalaureate, Vocational Training Cycles, University Degrees, and other higher education options. Practical workshops and live demonstrations of various academic disciplines were also held.

Zone 3 was dedicated to young people. In this space, students and recent graduates shared their real-life experiences. Fourth-year ESO students asked questions about transitioning to university. Zone 4 hosted a real networking event. Participants had the opportunity to talk directly with current professionals.
