This week the nominations for the CHALLENGE FAMILY AWARDS 2024 were announced. These awards were created in 2019 in order to recognise the events and organising teams that do the best work in different sections related to race management. The way it works is as follows: CHALLENGE FAMILY establishes categories (best race, best circuit, best fans, etc.), and based on the analysis of the participants' surveys, it is decided which events are nominated in each of the categories. The winners are established taking into account the vote of the participants, in an open vote.

Challenge Peguera Mallorca nominations

The Calvià race has obtained nominations in 9 of the 12 categories that make up these awards, two more than the previous year, which was already considered a great success by the organisation. Although the nominations do not guarantee the awards, they do serve to recognise the quality of the edition, since the nominations are based on the experience of the athletes and their evaluation.

Values and social responsibility

The organisation seeks that participants perceive what it means to compete in triathlon in Mallorca. A differentiated, local, unique and unrepeatable event is created. The circuits present the essential characteristics of the island (climbs, descents, narrow and dizzying sections, swimming in open water, etc.). From registration to the last communication, the aim is to personalise the experience and link it to the island.

Traditional cultural events are highlighted throughout the development of the event, such as the dimonis, local gastronomy, the use of KM 0 companies and products, or the involvement of residents and sports clubs from the municipality of Calvià.

Within the framework of the organisation of Challenge Peguera Mallorca, an action plan is developed aimed at working on different sustainable development objectives. The purpose is for the event to generate a positive impact on the community, reducing the footprint of the event as much as possible and generating a benefit for the community. In this area, the reduction of plastics, single-use packaging or paper in the event stands out, as well as the integration of groups with special needs, through collaborations, donations, etc. The participation of educational centres in the area in the event programme, or the involvement of local clubs, companies in the municipality and public institutions in the organisation and management of the project.
