The Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE), operated by Calvià Town Hall at the Civil Guard premises in the municipality, is already up and running. The Consistory is extending the service period this year, 2026, so now it will operate from May to October, increasing the service provided in recent years from June to September by two months.
This SATE extension to May and October underscores the success of the municipal strategy to combat seasonality, confirming that tourism in Calvià is becoming established beyond the summer season. The measure is part of the municipal commitment to continue extending the tourist season and distributing visitor arrivals over more months of the year, especially during what is traditionally considered mid and low seasons.
Currently, there are two SATE units in Calvià operating in collaboration with the Directorate General of the Civil Guard to assist victims of criminal offences. In Magaluf, interpretation services are offered from Monday to Sunday, and in Peguera from Monday to Friday. Services are primarily provided in English and German, although some interpreters also have a good command of other languages, such as French or Italian. Calvià Town Hall emphasises the importance of this service in reinforcing the image of a safe destination and raising awareness about a responsible and sustainable tourism model.
The effectiveness of the Foreign Tourist Assistance Service (SATE) is reflected in the consistently increasing user satisfaction ratings. Visitors who have been crime victims report feeling more comfortable expressing themselves in their own language, which provides them with greater peace of mind and understanding during the assistance process. Calvià closed the 2025 tourist season with very positive results in terms of local security, confirming a sustained improvement in public order and the general perception of safety in the main areas of the municipality. Regarding the user profile, British citizens were the majority of those assisted in Magaluf, followed by German, Italian, and French tourists. Meanwhile, in the Peguera office, the most frequently assisted nationality was German, and the average age of those assisted was higher than that of the Magaluf office.
